Here, at LifeSpring, our student ministry is called Sojourner Students. Sojourn means, to dwell temporarily, or to live in a temporary place, as a stranger. As Sojourner Students, we want the students to know that this place is not their home. Their home is in heaven, the place to come next. Our students have a job, as they Sojourn here on this earth, and that is to “Love God” and “Love Others.”
Everything that we do in the student ministry here, at LifeSpring, revolves around “Loving God” and “Loving Others.” In Matthew 22:36-40 Jesus said,“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Each Wednesday night, we take time to Love God through worship, a message, and discussion. Then, we take time to Love others by spending time with other people without any agendas. Through these filters, we like to have lots of fun. We go on many trips together, as a group, to grow closer and build community with others outside of our church.
Sojourner Students isn't just another youth group. We are very intentional in everything we do. Our biggest hope is that when your student graduates high school, they will understand what “Loving God” and “Loving Others” really looks like. As they learn this, they will also find out and truly know what they believe and why they believe it, in their own relationships with Christ.
